08/05 Congratulations to the Winners!

The Hate Crimes Prevention Art Exhibit took place last night at Brooklyn Borough Hall and was a rousing success, with over 150 people in attendance! The winners were also announced:

1st Place: Kristin Angelie Tablang, for her multimedia piece “Meeting Miss Perception”
2nd Place: Olivia Cheng, for her video “Note Worthy”
3rd Place: Joann Lee, for her photo collage “unLABELED”
4th Place: Andrew Gomes, for his drawing “The Mirror”
5th Place: Caroline Chiu, for her poem “A Dead Girls’ Monologue”

And again, thank you to everybody who participated in the contest!

07/01 Pictures from the 2008 Hate Crimes Prevention Art Exhibit

Last year’s Hate Crimes Prevention Art Exhibit was held at the Brooklyn Borough Hall. Over 200 people attended the ceremony, which included speeches by community leaders and elected officials, such as City Councilmember John Liu; performances by artists Elijah Kuan Wong and Maya Azucena; and the presentation of the contest winners. The event was covered in the New York Times, as well as other mainstream and ethnic press.
